Living Water
" Jacob's well was there; and Jesus, tired from the long walk, sat wearily beside the well about noontime. Soon a Samaritan woman came to draw water, and Jesus said to her, "Please give me a drink." He was alone at the time because his disciples had gone into the village to buy some food. The woman was surprised, for Jews refuse to have anything to do with Samaritans. She said to Jesus, "You are a Jew, and I am a Samaritan woman. Why are you asking me for a drink?" Jesus replied, "If you only knew the gift God has for you and who I am, you would ask me, and I would give you living water." "But sir, you don't have a rope or a bucket," she said, "and this is a very deep well. Where would you get this living water? And besides, are you greater than our ancestor Jacob who gave us this well? How can you offer better water than he and his sons and his cattle enjoyed?" Jesus replied, "People soon become thirsty again after drinking this water. But the water I give them takes away thirst altogether. It becomes a perpetual spring within them, giving them eternal life." John 4:6-13
Are drinking of this living water Jesus talks about? Maybe you are trying to fill your cup else where. You dive into the sewer water of the world trying to fill that hole inside. It won't work. Why? Only Jesus can fill that hole. If you try to fill it any other way you'll be left disatisfied and thirsty. Most people today don't realize what their drinking. Most people don't even realize they are thirsty. Are you thirsty toady? Jesus beckons you:
"If you are thirsty, come to me! If you believe in me, come and drink!" John 7:37
First you must turn from this world. Turn to Jesus and believe he can fill your cup. He can make your soul overflow with blessings. He will heal your deepest hurt. The needs of your soul can be quenched through the Lord your God! Do you need to ask Jesus to fill your cup? Maybe you believe in Jesus, but it's been awhile since you've tasted of the clean and pure water he offers.
"Is anyone thirsty? Come and drink" Isaiah 55:1
Search your heart right now. Are you truly drinking of the living water? Are you ready to give up the old water for life giving water? Give it up! Read here how the woman at the well, gave her water up for living water:
"The woman left her water jar beside the well and went back to the village and told everyone." John 4:28
Did you catch that? She left her jar at the feet of Jesus. You must do this as well. Give up that old jar that can no longer hold any water. Give it to Jesus and take the living water he has waiting for you. Only then can you have everlasting life. Only then can you have joy and contentment through every trial. Give it up. Your not fooling anyone. Your unhappy. The world does not satisfy, not even a little. Take the living water Jesus is offering to you today. Read this scripture over and over. Let the word spring forth rivers from inside of you. Come and drink!
