In the Grip of Grace

"My gracious favor is all you need." 2 Corinthians 12:9

Today, I can truly say I'm in the grip of His grace. How could I ask for more? He has given so much to me already. I keep asking myself, why if I love God so much, would I turn back to sin? Why would I try to exchange the new road for the old worn road? Why would I return to the prison when I have been set free? First of all I look to 2 Corinthians for the answer:

"My gracious favor is all you need." 2 Corinthians 12:9

I realized that it is not about me. I can't love God enough to change my ways. I can't do enough rights to cover up my wrongs. I just can't. God can. Only through Him will I become holy and clean. Only by His love will I turn from sin. Only through his Son Jesus can we ever be made right. Than we ask, well then if God loves me so much, why doesn't He answer my prayers? Why doesn't He heal me? Why doesn't He give me a brand new car? Why won't He tell me of the future? Why won't He stop me from sinning? Maybe take away this temptation? Paul asked the same questions. Here in this same scripture is the answer:

"My gracious favor is all you need." 2 Corinthians 12:9

His Grace is all we need. All we ever need. He came down in human flesh and withstood all of man-kinds temptations; He took the form of a humble servant and willingly died for me. When we think of this, dare we ask for more? He has saved us from all sin, from the deep caverns of hell. His Love has set us free from the prison of sin; Why would we want to turn back? Why would we still turn to sin? Paul tells it this way:

"be strong with the special favor God gives you in Christ Jesus." 2 Timothy 2:1

Paul tells Timothy to be strong! In what? God's special favor, His gift of grace. As Christians, we must grasp firmly the grace God has given us. When we come to the throne of God, only God's gift can save us. If we are proven to have accepted this gift, then we will be accepted with open arms. We can't be saved through anything else! Well, what happens if I sin again? What happens when I turn from God? What happens when I screw up bad, when everyone is watching? Will God want His gift of Grace back? Will he turn his face from us? Will he destroy us with His mighty hand?
Paul tells us this:

"And I am convinced that nothing can ever separate us from his love. Death cant, and life can't. The angels can't, and the demons can't. Our fears for today, our worries for tomorrow, and even the powers of hell can't keep God's love away. Whether we are high above the sky or in the deepest ocean, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 9:39
